Guide for Pay By Link
What is Pay by Link?
From now on, you will be able to offer your customers the ability to pay by sending them a link to their phone from your SaltPay terminal, in a secure and reliable way!
It is very simple to use: you will just need to ask your customers to provide you with their phone number, and a payment link will be directly sent to them. They will access the link, enter their card details and simply make a secure payment!
Reach more of your customers by offering them the chance to pay without the need to visit your store, great during COVID
MOTO will be a restricted activity this year due to its insecure nature, and Pay by link is replacing it!
Pay by Link uses stricter customer authentication by having 3D Secure built-in which will reduce your risk to fraudulent chargebacks.
Main Flow Steps
1. Start using Pay by Link by clicking the cog icon in the top left corner of the Home Screen and making sure Payment requests are enabled
2. Once enabled, choose the amount to be charged as you would for a normal transaction
3. Enter your customer’s phone number
4. Request is sent to customer by SMS
5.Customer opens URL in the SMS and is taken to a secure payment page
- Amount is pre-set and not editable
6. Customer enters card details and pays
7. You will receive a notification on the terminal that the request has been fulfilled.
The payment request links will expire after 24 hours after you create them. You can re-send the request to the same number at any time with the same amount. You can also change the number and re-send at any time with the same amount.
Previously sent payment links for the last 72 hours can be viewed in the history , they are split by:
Re-sending or changing the destination number can be accomplished for items in any state.
For older entries please go to the main transaction history.
Payment requests can be refunded to the same card as was originally used for the transaction.
Click the “Transactions” option on the Home Screen
Find the transaction you want to refund
Add the terminal PIN to approve
A full or partial refund can be performed
On the page your customers are directed to they will have the opportunity to enter an email address to receive their receipt when paying.
The merchant can request for a receipt for the payment request by inputting their contract email address in B-Online, like the picture shows below:
